The questions that come up once you're comparing quotes. Rebates and loans in the ACT and NSW, what size battery suits your home, which batteries we install, and who approves your grid connection.
What help is there with the cost of a battery in the ACT?
In the ACT the Sustainable Household Scheme is a loan, not a rebate. You repay what you borrow.
Up to $20,000 for new applicants from 1 July 2026, at 3% interest over up to 10 years. Households already in the scheme stay on the earlier $15,000 cap.
The federal discount comes off the price at the point of sale. The ACT loan can then finance what is left to pay.
The ACT has no cash rebate for batteries. Next Generation Energy Storage closed, with final installs due by March 2023, so anything you read presenting it as open is out of date.

What help is there in NSW?
None of the ACT schemes reach your home in NSW. The federal battery discount does, and it works the same either side of the border.
Home Energy Saver: up to $15,000 at 0% interest, for households under a $210,000 income test.
A low-income discount has been announced on top of that loan and is not open yet. We won't put it in a price until it is.

What size battery do I need?
Your battery size depends on how many kilowatt-hours you use after dark, and how much spare solar your roof makes during the day to charge with. Your bill has most of that in it.
Buy more than your evening needs and the extra capacity may never cycle. Buy less and you'll be back on grid power at the dearest time of day.
The federal discount is tiered, and the first 14 kWh of usable capacity counts in full, the next 14 kWh at 60%, anything above 28 kWh at 15%. The last few kilowatt-hours of a very large battery are close to full price.
We size off twelve months of meter data where you have it, and off your switchboard and your roof where you do not.

Which batteries do you fit?
Mostly Tesla Powerwall. We've been a Premium Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer since 2021. We also fit Enphase and GoodWe.
The right battery comes out of your switchboard, your roof and what your home uses after dark. We fit a small number of products we know properly, and we'll say which one your design points to.
If you already know what you want, say so when you ask for the quote and we'll design around it.
Who approves the grid connection?
Evoenergy is the ACT distributor, and we lodge the application for you. Their default export limit for a home is 10 kVA, which caps what you send back to the grid. Your roof can still make more than that, and your home can use all of it.
A larger system needs an application to Evoenergy, and they may still approve it.
Evoenergy publishes no connection timeframe, so we won't quote you one. We'll tell you where your application is up to whenever you ask.
Evoenergy covers the ACT only. In NSW your distributor is a different business with its own limits, and none of this applies to your home.

Do I have to decide on the day?
No. You sign nothing at the visit, and your design and your price come to you in writing afterwards.
